Scheme for Ukrainian Students

Government Funding to Study in the UK

The UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) has announced that Ukrainian students granted leave to remain under the Homes for Ukraine or Ukraine Family schemes, or under the Ukraine Extension scheme, will now qualify for home fees for all courses, including master’s programs, starting from the academic year 2022/23. This makes higher education in the UK more affordable and accessible for Ukrainian students than ever before.

Here’s what you need to know:

Home Fees, Maintenance Loan, and Grants:

Ukrainian students granted leave to remain under the Homes for Ukraine or Ukraine Family schemes, or under the Ukraine Extension scheme, can now enjoy home fees, capped at £9,250 per year, which is significantly lower than international student fees.

This means that Ukrainian students will be eligible for the same tuition fees as UK students, making higher education in the UK more affordable and accessible.

There is no upper age limit for course fee loans, and maintenance loans and other grants have an upper age limit of 60.

Students can receive up to £17,000 per year in maintenance loans and grants, depending on their circumstances.

Key Points:

No Previous Qualifications Required: There is no requirement for previous qualifications, making it accessible to Ukrainian students with varying educational backgrounds. This opens up opportunities for Ukrainian students who may not have traditional qualifications but have the motivation and potential to succeed in higher education.

English Proficiency: An intermediate level of English proficiency is required, providing an opportunity for Ukrainian students with a range of language skills. This allows Ukrainian students to improve their English language proficiency while pursuing their studies in the UK, enhancing their employability and global communication skills.

Flexible Study Options: Study two days a week or on weekends, allowing Ukrainian students to balance their studies with other commitments. This provides flexibility for Ukrainian students who may have work or family commitments, enabling them to pursue higher education while managing other responsibilities.

Free Support: If you are a Ukrainian student settled in the UK and interested in applying for university studies, we offer free support. Our university advisors can provide guidance on the university admission process, helping Ukrainian students navigate the application process and also help with funding applications.
